Felix goes third in FP2

Algarve-30Felix continued to feature at the sharp end of the timesheets by grabbing third in the second and final FA1 free practice session at Portimão.

The session was headed by Mirko Bortolotti (Team Italy), with Nigel Melker (Team Netherlands) taking second. Felix wound up a tenth adrift of his former F3 team-mate, but felt that there was more to come.

“I made a mistake on my fastest lap and locked up massively going into Turn 12,” Felix said. “I think it cost me about half a second. Qualifying is certainly going to be interesting – particularly with the tyres going off so quickly. We’ll have just one lap to set the time, and there will be no second chance. It’s the complete opposite to Formula 3, where the tyres generally last much longer, but I think it only adds another dimension to the weekend.”

Qualifying for tomorrow’s Race 1 - the first in the new-born history of FA1 - commences at 15.15 local time.
